30 years of BITS & BEITS, a chronological description of the office history.
The foundation of the office for architecture BITS & BEITS in 1991 by the partners occurred simultaneously with an enormous technical change of the classical design process in architecture as well as the constructive and design illustration of the planned buildings. We are talking about the introduction of computer-aided drafting and design commonly known as CAD methodology.

The office initially specialized in services by transferring analog drawings into the digital world. The client was a retail group, whose employees we trained in the use of CAD for the furnishing planning of the sales outlets. Thus, the furnishing planning could be carried out on the screen, frequent change requests of the various sales lines could now be implemented immediately without any problems. The name of the office Bits & Beits originates from these early days.

The reunification of Germany also triggered a tremendous boom in the wholesale+retail sector with an incredible expansion. As a result, in addition to orders in the service sector and training, we increasingly received design orders for Sb- department stores, hypermarkets and even shopping centers.

From the initial part-time activity became an independent architectural office with larger space requirements, thus a move to larger office space was necessary. The new offices in Bad Salzuflen were occupied in 1995.

In addition to shopping centers in eastern Germany, a shopping center in Moscow was also developed for the retail group, whose planning and project support by BITS & BEITS lasted 2 years.

After the reunification of Germany, investors also recognized the potential of the fallow inner cities in eastern Germany and made targeted investments there. While the shopping centers ensured the supply of the population of East Germany, upscale consumer demands were now satisfied in the inner city. Thus, the new construction and renovation of commercial buildings in urban centers also became another focus of the planning activities of BITS & BEITS BÜRO für Architektur, not only in eastern Germany but also in cities throughout Germany.

In addition to buildings for the trade, planning tasks in the social sector developed into a further focus, e.g. Residential homes and workshops for handicapped people or housing complexes for senior citizens. The planning spectrum extends to office + administration buildings mainly for our clients and investors in the aforementioned industries to multi-party residential buildings. In 2011, the office Bits & Beits was moved to Bahnhofstr. 11 in Bad Salzuflen, in an office space owned by the company.

After 25 years of design and construction work with CAD-based software, another development in this field will now radically change the world of architects and engineers, the talk is of BIM ( Building Information Modeling). The office Bits & Beits is currently working intensively with the BIM methodology and has also successfully applied some visualizations, a subset of the BIM possibilities, examples can be seen on our website.
